5 Snow Pictures

The young girl spins, arms open wide,
Looking up at the tall, bedraggled trees
Who, in turn, envy her scarf

The man walks by, hurriedly, unnoticing,
Exploration being the part of childhood
Least likely to be preserved

A outdoor cat with white fur
Named “Snowball” by humans
Wishes she’d been named “Fireplace”

School is out: parental satisfaction
Is in inverse proportion to that
Of students and, especially, teachers

No pitcher ever through a more satisfactory strike
Than the boy down the street
Who just hit his brother in the face with a snowball
