She knows, and knows, she doesn’t know,
She loves to laugh, but even so,
The world is somber, flash and flame,
And life too sacred just to be a game —

Assurance, insecurity,
Adulthood or maturity,
These aren’t the same, but are as one,
And life’s too sacred not to be much fun —

There’s fortune, and there’s circumstance;
There’s what can only be expressed in dance —

There’s what she’ll show, and what she won’t,
And what you think you know, but really
