The ALWAYS-NEVER Bus

Upon the ALWAYS-NEVER Bus
We sometimes would have traveled,
Before the world went straight to hell,
And our lives came unraveled.

We lived upon a lane of gold,
And held our riches closely,
We always tipped the servants, and
We paid our taxes (mostly) —

But then came down the thunder-voice
Who painted us as evil;
He said we weren’t supportable
With ideas so medieval —

And so they took our house and land,
Ignoring the acquittals,
And left us in these shifting shacks,
To grouse around for vittles.

Inside the ALWAYS-NEVER Bus
We maybe should have wandered,
Instead of being here to think
That all we had’s
Been squandered.
