Morning Song

Good morning mirror
I see you’ve made a change
You took it on yourself
My face to rearrange

Good morning caffeine
It’s been one of those years
We can discuss the twisted
Perfidy of mirrors

I want to sing
But I do not want to be heard
I have a point
But I’m afraid that it’s absurd
I’d make some noise
But hesitate to make a sound
For everybody loves me, but
No one wants me around

There is a kind of sort of
Tension in the air
Like I’d been fighting with
Someone who isn’t there

And like a story where
The twist just leaves you lost;
I’ve kept accounts of everything
Except what it might cost

I want to sing
But I do not want to be heard
I have a point
But I’m afraid that it’s absurd
I’d make some noise
But hesitate to make a sound
For everybody loves me, but
No one wants me around

I want to dance
But I do not want to be seen
I fight with mirrors and
I talk to my caffeine
I’d change my life if I
Could get the thing unwound
And maybe people love me, but
They’re shocked I’m still around

  1. “Good morning mirror
    I see you’ve made a change
    You took it on yourself
My face to rearrange” …. Just amazing! This poem shook me in my core. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Reblogged this on My Blog impostor in me and commented:
    I am thinking aloud
Yet, I want to be heard by those
    who never expect me around
    for that’s how it goes
I must do and already did
    much for my friends
somehow , i got listed among foes

  3. This is a great poem. I really like it and the extra main stanza starting with I want to sing works too.
    Regards,
    Sam.
