You

You stand apart, now, strong in what you’ve seen;
The day’s gone cold, uphill and down ravine.
The sky fills up with stars, both shy and bold,
The night is young, but you feel bare, and old,
And full of questions no one seems to know
The answers to; just why things must be so.

You pause a moment, bathed in solitude,
Apprised, by those in warmth, of gratitude,
And smiling at the innocence of such:
For they know little of what you’ve seen much.
For there’s a view from where are that’s rare,
Although, you’ve wished, at times, you were not there.

To you, my heart goes out, though yours grows numb,
For who you are, and what you’ve
    Overcome
