Moments Count

A finite number of days to
Come through that door and
Lay my keys on this dresser

Only so many times to
Hold my wife or for us to watch
Our grandkids playing in the yard

Our days are numbered, as are
Our breaths, our heartbeats,
And our chances

For each moment counts,
Whether we’ve made it count or not:
But if we’re not careful
The moments count

For nothing

  1. What a reflective piece.
    I love it…
Oh snap I’m a dad and this is mega relevant to how I’m gonna feel as I get older and everyone I currently care for moves on
Parents move from this life to whatever lies beyond
    First girlfriends
    Best friends
    Weddings

    Argh!
