In Solitude

I stood beside the mordant sea
A castle built for you and me
A bit of wish, and fantasy
Beside the mordant sea

The crashing of the lawless waves
A harp and fife from in the caves
The queen that serves, the king that saves
Beside the lawless waves

In solitude, a ravaged coast
A king who’s little more than ghost
Who wants the least, but hopes the most
Along the ravaged coast

In lonely echoes now to brood
On castles worn with time accrued
In scenes made out of mist and mood
In solitude
In solitude
