The Heart Still Understands

If you would sail away to places new,
Let go of port, and leave your home and lands;
Though chance be many, hours may be few:
Where reason waits, the heart still understands

If you would just get up and leave your seat,
To let the music fill you and to dance,
You’d find your life’s true rhythm in the beat:
Where reason waits, the heart still understands

And yet we live within a type of maze
We build of expectation, and our plans —
The light is just outside, we see the rays:
Where reason waits, the heart still understands

  You tremble on the edge, where reason waits,
  The heart still understands — unbar the gates
