Her mother cried the day she went away,
Because she seemed so glad to leave this place;
A private wedding that we didn’t see,
And light years’ worth of distance in the space
Between the life we lead and where they are.
But here today, I see her loving light;
A decent man who loves her, by her side —
And in the quiet, I see she was right.
For we – and any parents – should be thrilled
To see their child living so fulfilled.
