Disappointed

You’re disappointed in me now,
And I can understand;
You hear the things I say and think
Of yourself as a fan

But then find inconsistencies
In how I live my life:
The tangle of confusions
With which all of us are rife

I can be, well, a jerk at times.
My temper’s not the best;
And when life has surprises
I’ve been known to fail the test

I try integrity to show,
But my mind is a fetter —
I’m sorry that I let you down
I, too, expected
Better
