I am an actuary, I see

Patterns everywhere:

The math behind relationships,

And between here and there

.

I am good enough at it

To have made a career:

But much of that was simply luck,

I often think — or fear —

.

As for where I’m deficient,

Long readers know it’s true:

I envy bodies who’ll do what

Their owners tell them to

.

I envy dancers most of all,

And I think this confirms

The fact my mind and body really aren’t
