Unrecognizable

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Time Capsule.”

I’m sure I would not recognize

Myself in someone else’s eyes

And human lives are time capsules

That few ever unearth

For those who know us now can’t see

What makes you – you, and makes me – me;

Whatever artifacts we leave

Scarcely describes the birth

Or life, of any of us here

For we’re both more than we appear

And less, in many ways

But all of us will leave behind

Some treasures of our heart or mind

That occupied our days

But who could reconstruct e’en part

Of what was once a beating heart

From books or music, pics or plates –

To decipher

We

Isolates
